Western Cape Rehabilitation Centre

The WCRC was born out of the amalgamation of the Conradie Hospital Spinal -and General Rehabilitation Units and Karl Bremer Rehabilitation Unit. Visit the new location in Lentegeur, Mitchell’s Plain, where you’ll see that we offer our clients the best treatment for their physical rehabilitation needs. These new premises have also resulted in the pooling of resources, facilities and expertise, creating a new facility and the dawn of a new age in health care.

Rehabilitation services are made for people with medical, post-surgical, post-trauma, neurological, orthopaedic, musculoskeletal and other conditions. These include burns victims, head injuries, strokes, trauma, hand injuries, amputation, respiratory, cardiac and other disorders. The service is necessary but it’s not broad enough and fails to reach many people in need due to a lack of resources. Most public sector services are based in hospitals and special schools, with few services available at community levels.

The Karl Bremer and Conradie Hospital Rehabilitation Centres have been amalgamated into a single Western Cape Rehabilitation Centre (WCRC).

The WCRC is a specialised rehabilitation centre that handles referrals from all levels of rehabilitation services (tertiary, secondary, district and primary services). Clients can also refer themselves to the WCRC outpatient clinic for one-stop assessment and management purposes.
