There are Three Types of Nursing in South Africa

Registered Nurses or Nursing Sister

They are responsible for the supervision of enrolled and enrolled Auxiliary Nurses as well as typical responsibilities

Enrolled Nurses
They perform limited Nursing Care.

Enrolled Nursing Auxiliaries
They perform basic procedures and care for patients on a general level.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

Admission Requirement:

All our courses are offered on a full-time basis. Admission is based on an entrance exam, which tests the students level of understanding according to the course that the student is applying for entrance into.
National Senior Certificate/ Grade 12 or equivalent qualification at exit level 4.

Admission Requirements for Bridging Course (R683)

65% pass mark in the entry exam
Must be a full-time learner (if it is part-time, permission to study from the place of work is required)
Clear legible police certified copies of the following:
– Standard 8, 9, 10 or equivalent thereof x 3 copies
– Recognition of Prior Learning or Letter of support from the place of work (if you have no matric)
– Minimum of two (2) years working or employed full-time as an Enrolled Nurse
– Indemnity e.g. Denosa, Nehawu etc. x 3
– ID copy x 3
– Marriage certificate/Divorce decree (where applicable) x3
– Affidavit (where applicable)
– SANC current receipt x 3
– SANC certificate x 3

ID size photos x 3
_ Additional Information for Foreign learners
– Clear legible police certified copies of the following:
– Copy of passport x 3
– Study permit x3
– SAQA approved/converted results x3
– Letter of support from the Foreign Workforce Programme
– Letter of support from the Embassy
– Medical Aid membership proof

How to Apply to Sizanesu Nursing Training Institute:

NB: The above minimum selection criteria must first be met in full for an applicant to be considered further where the institutional selection criteria will be applied.

Step 2
ONLY if your National Senior Certificate meets the above requirements you may apply to participate in the preselection assessment process.

Theoretical examinations are conducted by the South African Nursing Council at the end of each study year. Practical examinations (clinical) are conducted by Sizanesu Nursing Training Institute at the end of each study year.

The successful learner can register at the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse (Staff Nurse).
